"Asthma Blues"©
"Asthma Blues"© is an interactive and easy-to-use asthma education program
(book & CD) that effectively delivers key concepts of asthma management through the use of the universal communicator,
music. "Asthma Blues"© introduces participants to asthma physiology, lends clarity
to the specific roles of asthma medication, and teaches the importance of peak flow measurements as part of a written
asthma action plan to guide self-management. This entertaining, informative, empowering CD translates the goals
of the Expert Panel Report 3 (EPR-3) into music. "Asthma Blues"© also delivers
5 of the 6 Key Priority Messages from the Guidelines Implementation Panel (GIP) Report while addressing one of the GIP Report’s
core themes, Communication.
The science of music and learning validates the fact
that music with an educational message is an effective teaching strategy. The studies show that music and melody facilitate
learning and recall of text. People of all ages can learn about effective asthma management through the application
of music as the vehicle for asthma education.
Our music is the “universal communicator” that entertains
and empowers while encouraging asthma education participation. "Asthma
Blues" can be applied at home, in clinics, the emergency room, hospitals, at asthma camps, by educators in the community,
and by nurses in the schools. Utilizing the science of music and learning, the
"Asthma Blues" CD has been designed to educate individuals with asthma and their families or caregivers. One of the advantages of "Asthma
Blues"© is that young children, teens, adults, and those with limited reading skills
or low literacy levels can benefit from this program.
"Asthma Blues"©
empowers participants with vital information that builds the structure for asthma management,
delivers key concepts that help them to take control of asthma, and equips
them with the tools to keep it controlled.
